Salman Pips SRK And Aamir, Again!
You already know the mayhem that Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan is creating. The film now holds the distinction of having the highest opening weekend collections of Rs. 102.6 crore (Salman beats Aamir, July 20).

With this, Salman is the only Bollywood star to have 8 consecutive films that have entered the 100-crore club.

Yes, 8 films, no less! It all started with the 2010 hit Dabangg, of course. Soon came Bodyguard (2011), Ready (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Dabangg 2 (2012), Jai Ho (2014), Kick (2014) and now this.

Sure, his contemporaries Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan feature prominently in the elite club, but they are a shade paler than Sallu.

King Khan has 5 movies that have touched the golden mark - Ra.One, Don 2, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Chennai Express and Happy New Year.

And while Aamir may lead the club from the front with his PK sitting pretty with the highest lifetime collections, the star has only 3 other films in the list - Ghajini, 3 Idiots and Dhoom 3.

So what makes a Salman film a sureshot 100-crore grosser? SpotboyE.com spoke to the industry experts to throw some light on this.

Devendra Bhai, a leading distributor and exhibitor, feels that the timing of Eid has worked very well for the actor. He points out, "His Eid releases see huge footfalls because people have a holiday. Besides, the ticket prices are anywhere between Rs. 500-600, which is almost the double of what other small stars' film charges. So, automatically, you make double the money and enter the 100-crore club quickly."

Trade analyst Komal Nahta says, "Salman does two films a year while some stars just concentrate on one project at a time. So because the number of films he does is relatively higher, there are higher chances of his films making it to the 100-crore club. Plus, we all are aware of his fanatic fan following, so it's bound to happen."

Gaiety Galaxy theatre owner Manoj Desai feels the magnitude of Salman's popularity amongst the masses is his biggest advantage. "Salman is very popular and there is no two ways about it. When it comes to his films, the entertainment value is really good. That is what the masses seek and he gives them what they want. His run at the box-office also proves that releasing films during festivals is obviously the best move."
